LIKE A TREE PLANTED FIRMLY BY THE WATERS

Do you want to be happy, blessed and prosperous? Who doesn't ? Can we really be happy ,blessed and prosperous as a Christian? I know from my perspective it seems that few really are, unless you are a Tele Evangelist. They seem to be really rolling in the dough.
If the bible can be trusted to be the inspiration of and the very breath of GOD, and it is,it seems to say that we can be. So when looking at the lives of the Saints spoken of in the Scriptures and at the lives of the Apostles, can we come to the conclusion that they were in the very Will of the Most High? If so, were they happy, blessed and prosperous or successful in all they did? Do the words, blessed, happy , successful and prosperous mean the same thing in our day as it was in the Bible? Tele Evangelist and the Name it Claim it crowd, seems to think that these words mean what they mean today, I think that maybe they don't, not exactly. I think that it is not the personal wealth and success that we keep for ourselves, that the bible is addressing. I think that the people of FAITH spoken of within the pages of our Bibles were very blessed and properous, some in the ways we think of in our society, but these wealthy ones shared and spread their wealth around and did not hoard their blessings but served GOD with it. Others seemed not so wealthy by our standards of wealth, but in the ways of GOD these saints were what we can say 'stinking rich', but in the works of GOD through them. They flowed and was filled and full of the HOLY SPIRIT OF THE MOST HIGH they were so successful at letting the fruits of GOD' S SPIRIT flow through them for and in the service of others, that many Christians today can only just read about. There are very few saints living today that are as Rich as they were in the writings of the Apostles. Why is that, and that was my question to the LORD today, why GOD am I so poor and lacking in all areas of my life both physically and spiritually?
and Psalms 1 and Psalms 4 was my answer.

4. (n.) That which meets with, or one who accomplishes, favorable results, as a play or a player.

As I was getting ready for my time with the LORD this morning, not really knowing where to start, I had just opened my bible, not to any particular page, I just opened it and proceeded to turning on my lap top, when all of a sudden the page of the bible turned, so I looked at what was on that page and on both pages were ,Psalms1,2,3 and 4
Psalms 1 really spoke to alot of issues, that I am tangled up in and if I would apply it's wisdom in and to my life, I would not be so tangled up in my 'issues" . In Psalms 1 , struck a note with me in that ,if I want to be blessed,1.I must not walk in the council, or plans or purpose of the wicked or unbelievers. What does that mean exactly? For me, I have been studying in some of the various religious paths that are not exactly noted for being kind or sympathetic to the bible and to the GOD of the Bible.

2. I must not stand or sit in the path of sinners.- This is very clear to me, in that the word 'path' is used alot in these various fringes of Christianity and beyond , I have been mingling in and studying various teachings on these 'Paths',and the word path is used to defind their spiritual or religious affiliations.

3.My delight or pleasure should be in the law or teachings and instructions of the LORD.-This is speaking very loudly to me in that on these other 'paths' the law or teaching within the bible are not the focus of their pursuit, but on how to do other things to get close to GOD when GOD has already told us how it is done. My passion , my desires, my pleasure should be on the teachings that GOD has handed down to us via the instruction manual the bible.

4. I must meditate, ponder, and or study in HIS law day and night.- This is telling me that meditation is to ponder and to study HIS laws and instruction via the Bible, through out the day and night, not some thing else that does not even mention GOD of JESUS within its teachings ,Meditation is not saying a mantra or a word over and over so that my mind is empty but that I place within my Mind the Words of Life and ponder them over and over, GOD wants a thinking mind not an empty one.If I do this not because I want to be saved but because I am saved and I do belong to the LORD then I will be planted and rooted in the river of GOD, I will bring forth fruit, this fruit is not my doing but being a branch on the vine of Christ and the root of GOD, I will bear fruit in season or when the time is right, and I will prosper and be successful in all I do. What I believe here is that it is not just my life here on earth the Material blessings that are being talked about. I will be prosperous and successful, but in what the LORD does within me and from the Holy Spirit from whom my fruit comes from , that is what will be successful. I think that the blessings and the prosperity is the work of GOD in us and through us that will be blessed, be successful and prosperous. We are not here as Christians to have earthly wealth and success and revel in our flesh, but as Christians we are to be blessed and successful in the work that GOD does through us.

I know we can not give to others if we do not have, but I also know that when we have then we are able to give to others. But our wealth and prosperity is not for us alone, but for and in the service of GOD as Ministers of Reconciliation to others.

May you be blessed and prospers in the LORD

SHALOM, in CHRIST THE MESSIAH

ENDURA

PSALMS 1
1 How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked,Nor stand in the path of sinners,Nor sit in the seat of scoffers! 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD,And in His law he meditates day and night. 3 He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water,Which yields its fruit in its season And its leaf does not wither; And in whatever he does, he prospers. 4 The wicked are not so,But they are like chaff which the wind drives away. 5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,Nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. 6 For the LORD knows the way of the righteous,But the way of the wicked will perish.

AND PSALMS 4 Spoke to me concerning my 'issues'

New American Standard Bible ©.
1 Answer me when I call, O God of my righteousness! You have relieved me in my distress;Be gracious to me and hear my prayer. 2 O sons of men, how long will my honor become a reproach? How long will you love what is worthless and aim at deception?
Selah.3 But know that the LORD has set apart the godly man(person)for Himself; The LORD hears when I call to Him. 4 Tremble, and do not sin;Meditate in your heart upon your bed, and be still.
Selah.5 Offer the sacrifices of righteousness,And trust in the LORD. 6 Many are saying, “Who will show us any good?”Lift up the light of Your countenance upon us, O LORD! 7 You have put gladness in my heart,More than when their grain and new wine abound. 8 In peace I will both lie down and sleep,For You alone, O LORD, make me to dwell in safety.

WHEN I SAY I AM A CHRISTIAN by MAYA ANGELOU

'A woman's heart should be so hidden in Christ that a man should have to seek Him first to find her.

'When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not shouting 'I'm clean livin''I'm whispering 'I was lost, Now I'm found and forgiven.

'When I say... 'I am a Christian' I don't speak of this with pride.I'm confessing that I stumble and need Christ to be my guide.

When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not trying to be strong.I'm professing that I'm weak and need His strength to carry on.

When I say.. 'I am a Christian' I'm not bragging of success.I'm admitting I have failed and need God to clean my mess.

When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not claiming to be perfect,My flaws are far too visible but, God believes I am worth it.

When I say... 'I am a Christian' I still feel the sting of pain..I have my share of heartaches, so I call upon His name.

When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not holier than thou, I'm just a simple sinner Who received God's good grace, somehow!

Crystals & Healing Prayer

Crystals have been scientifically proven to retain and omit energy, also worded as thought patterns. Computers run on this natural occurrence, such as the microchip, which works by the use of quartz. Whatever is put into the crystal (typed data, thought, prayer) is stored and reverberated (or retrieved, i.e. saved documents). This leads into the use of crystals for healing, mental clarity, cleansing etc. Some might deem crystals “New Age” but they are of the earth, and the earth and everything in the earth was created by God. With this respect, I personally don’t see crystals as harmful or going against God in fact they are His gift for us. We use aspirin derived from the bark of a Willow tree to cure our headaches , we use herbs of all kinds for food and as medicines, we use metals such as gold and silver in medicine and for all kinds of purposes,so why not use gemstones, and crystals to aid us for health and pain relief and to cure many ailments with as well?

I have used crystals for relief of pain for many many years, and they have worked wonderfully every time. Our God has given us all we need here on this planet for our use and for our good. Crystals are not evil spirits, and because some flaky New Agey persons attributes all kinds of divas, or spirits to them does not make it so. And because some use crystals and stones for unbiblical things, does not make them evil. All things are good , if we commit them and bless them in Jesus name. These are gifts of God , many stones and gemstones are used time and time again within the pages of the bible, the very foundation of our Mother New Jerusalem will be layered with 12 of them!

DREAMS,INTERPRETATIONS

I have always believed that dreams are one of the most common ways that God speaks to us. I have always believed that dreams are the most common ways our own spirit talks to us. In fact our bibles are full of dreams and their interpretations. There are many ways to try to interprete dreams and many books out there that can give you some information, here is an article about dreams to help us determine what our own dreams mean.

THIS IS FROM:http://www.hannahscupboard.com/
Dream Interpretation - Common Sense Guidelines
Dream interpretation is big business in America. That's because dreams themselves are so interesting and often puzzling and we would like to understand them better if we can. Actually, we can probably interpret most of our dreams ourselves - with a little help. Perhaps we just need a few ground rules which I will share with you here. After that…happy dreaming!
What's in a dream
As you begin to try to understand your own dreams, it's important to remember that dreams are part of God's design for your health and well being. Just like your heart or your lungs have a purpose for your body, dreams have a purpose too.
Dreaming can be a connection to areas deep within yourself being worked through in ways you cannot manage in your waking state. I remember going through a computer conversion once in which several solutions to problems came to me in dreams. I would wake up in the middle of the night and write down what I got through dreaming and implement it the next day at work.
Dreaming is also a mechanism to connect with God and receive messages from him regarding your life or your future. I believe God commonly uses dreams to speak to us and for that reason alone, it is a good idea to pay attention. People who say they don't dream or don't remember their dreams are missing out and should develop a way to key into their dreams.
Satan may also try to access or influence us during sleep and we need be on guard for that. Understanding the source of any dream is a good base line beginning point in interpretation. (More discussion on that under "Nightmares.")
The Most Important Rule
The most important rule in interpreting your own dream is answering this question: what did the dream mean to YOU? You may say; "Well if I knew that I wouldn't need help with the interpretation." What I am saying is to trust yourself as you separate out the elements in the dream and analyze the associated symbols and emotions.
The dream came to you and you have within yourself the best ability to understand what those particular elements mean. There are classic common dream symbols but they may not fit your dream and you shouldn't try to force them. Interpret out of your own well of understanding before going to standard symbol meanings.
Also, all details in a dream are not important. Was that house or that color or that person in the dream meaningful to YOU? If not, it's probably just something random that made its way in and won't be helpful.
Dream Journal
Record your dreams while they are fresh. If possible, keep a journal close by your bed and jot down at least the high points as soon as you wake up. It is often the case that dreams fade very quickly after waking so catch them before they go. It is also helpful to use a journal to better track reoccurring dreams.
A dream from God usually breaks this rule. Supernatural dreams are often more vibrant and indelible and if you have one like that you won't normally forget it even over time. There is a dream I had more than thirty years ago and I still remember every detail.
If there are others in your household, share dreams with each other. When I was a child we used to all tell our dreams at the breakfast table. It helps awareness and aids memory.
Prayer
The one who knows the exact interpretation of every single one of your dreams is God. Ask him! Believe me, he wants you to know and understand. Pray before you go to bed that God will speak to you in the nighttime and when you awake that you will understand how he did.
When you have a puzzling dream, submit it to God and ask him to make known the meaning. Then let your mind relax about it and wait. It may come quickly or over a few days or weeks.
Recently I had a dream with an unusual subject matter - the entire Supreme Court in my back yard - and as I was waking up I said to myself; "I wonder why I dreamed that; what does it mean God?" Almost immediately, a sentence came into my mind that interpreted the dream in a very simple way. Later that day I shared the dream with a few other people without telling them what I got for myself. They had more elaborate interpretations but none of them rang true to me. I feel pretty sure that one sentence was God's take on my dream.
Nightmares
Recently I heard a supposed dream expert say on TV that you shouldn't be upset about nightmares because they are pointing you to some problem that you need to address in your life. Instead, she said, you should welcome nightmares. I wouldn't agree with that.
Yes, sometimes a scary dream reveals an issue that you need to face but what if the dream is coming from the demonic realm? It is something to consider. Are you having reoccurring nightmares? How severe are they? Do you feel hopeless, terrified, driven or depressed after the dream? Does it feel like someone else is in control in the dream?
If you have nightmares, pray before you go to sleep each night that God will put a hedge of protection around your dreams. Make a prayer out of one of these two scriptures. "I will both lie down in peace and sleep; for You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety." (Psalm 4:8) or "For so He give His beloved sleep." (Psalm 127:5)
Another suggestion if you have nightmares often is to consult a doctor. There are some physically based things which cause nightmares; why not rule those out before going any further? Please see a physician for sure if you sleep walk because that can have potentially very dangerous consequences.
New Age versus Christian Approach
Dream interpretation is big in the New Age movement so be careful about using any books or manuals from that viewpoint. I suggest a Christian perspective for all your dream interpretation beyond what you can do for yourself. Try Dream Interpretation (A Biblical Understanding ) by Herman Riffel; Dream Language by Jim and Michal Ann Goll; Exploring the World of Dreams (A Scriptural Guide to Hearing from God in the Night Season) by Benny Thomas; or Interpreting the Symbols and Types by Kevin J. Conner.
Universal Symbols
There are a set of commonly held symbols within each culture that can point you to the right interpretation of your dream. Here on my website you can check Christian Dream Symbols Dictionary to start. But really, the first thing to do is ask yourself what a particular thing means to YOU. If you can see no special significance, move on to its use as a commonly understood symbol.
For instance, a turtle denotes slowness, a fox is sly and wily, the color green is restful, the number seven means "complete" in spiritual terms. The list goes on and on. You probably don't need to get too far off the beaten path in understanding the elements of your dreams.
Emotions
The emotions you feel in your dreams are extremely important in interpreting them. It may be even more important than the dream sequence itself. Pay close attention to every feeling and emotion played out in each dream.
I once had a dream in which I was in a war. I woke up and felt that I truly understood the horrors that each soldier must feel. My emotions were crucial in understanding the interpretation of my dream.
Now, may you be blessed in your sleep and in your dreams. May God speak to your heart through the nighttime hours and draw you ever closer to himself. Sweet dreams!

THE WHOLE ARMOR OF GOD

DECEPTION THE MIND GAME/WAR

is your garden kept well? or is it weedy?

The biggest, the hardest and by far the longest battle we all face in this life, will be fought in the space between our 2 ears , our minds, and our thoughts! The Spirit of the adversary's only weapon is Deception, and lies, that is it, but it is a doosey of a weapon because it will trip you up every time if we are not constantly alert to his tactics.
How many times does this happen to you, you are in a good spot right now, nothing is going on in your life that you can't handle, you feel good, your relationships are good, and oh boy the sun is shinning , it is a beautiful day..............but. Without warning you begin to feel saddened, you begin to have these thoughts that are down right depressing, you go about your day, but your thoughts do not match your circumstances. Now if you are a discerning Child of God, you will begin to realize that the spirit of heaviness has invaded you mind space!!!!What do we do when we realize the enemy has gotten in? Here is a suggestion from the Scriptures in various translations for Isaiah 61:3 which says in the NLT translation"the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness" and in the (New International Version)3 and provide for those who grieve in Zion— to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor."
Now in the (Amplified Bible)
3To grant [consolation and joy] to those who mourn in Zion--to give them an ornament (a garland or diadem) of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, the garment [expressive] of praise instead of a heavy, burdened, and failing spirit--that they may be called oaks of righteousness [lofty, strong, and magnificent, distinguished for uprightness, justice, and right standing with God], the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.
Now in the (Contemporary English Version)3especially in Jerusalem. He sent me to give them flowers in place of their sorrow, olive oil in place of tears, and joyous praise in place of broken hearts. They will be called "Trees of Justice," planted by the LORD to honor his name.
So here we have a remedy for the spirit of heaviness, despair, heavy burdens, failing spirit, and broken hearts! So we see that there is a 'spirit' that can cause all these things to spring up like weeds into the gardens of our minds!! How do we pull out these pesky weeds from our fertile gardens of our minds? PRAISE!
As a child of the Most High we have been given the AUTHORITY to rule our kingdoms our garden which is our minds and we can choose what goes in and what stays in there, although we may not have full control as to what goes into our minds, we do have the means to keep alot of these thoughts out by what we choose to put in there, by what we read, watch and where we choose to go, but many times weeds ,the spirits of discontent, and depression, an hopelessness sometimes finds a way in. We can take control of our thinking by standing against the enemy of our souls by taking every thought captive 2Cor.10:5. We do not have to entertain these thoughts if we do not want to, who really wants these kinds of thoughts anyway, they can wreck havoc in our lives, although like a few weeds in our gardens, if not pulled out before long these thoughts can go to seed, and then all we have are weeds in our gardens! The best remedy for a beautifully tended garden and mind is to start taking control and pulling the dang weeds of despair, and heaviness, and doubts, etc. as they come up!!!

If we are tormented by certain negative thoughts that keep playing over and over in our minds , please know that this is not of God, and He is not giving you that revelation for your life!!!!It is the enemy of your souls, using the only weapon he's got to take control of your mind!!!
One of the best tactics of our enemy is to try to steal the Word of God from you, how does he do that? By getting us to question God's Word just as he did in the Garden of Eden. When these questioning doubts sprang up , know that you are being set up.........if it does not ring true from the perspective of the Bible then you can trust that it is not true.
We are told to in Philippians 2:5 (Amplified Bible)
"5Let this same attitude and purpose and [humble] mind be in you which was in Christ Jesus: [Let Him be your example in humility:]"
Every 'sin' begins from a thought, in Mark 7:21,22
Amplified Bible (AMP)
"21For from within, [that is] out of the hearts of men, come base and wicked thoughts, sexual immorality, stealing, murder, adultery"
Our God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, when we fill our minds with the word about the WORD, we will not leave room for the enemy of our souls to come in and make himself at home in our minds.
Think on things that are pure, good, loving, positive, do not dwell on the negative , to habitually dwell on the negative and the untrue, we give place and honor to the enemy! We do not have to go with the crowd, we can rise above all the negativity and false hood, in Ephesians 4:17
TNIV it tells us " So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. 18 They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. "
The most powerful weapon of all time is not the bomb! it is the word of the Living God, and we as faithful believers in our Lord and Savior Jesus the Messiah has given US you and I the authority over the Adversary!
Learn the word, memorize the scripture promises that speak of the area you have need of help in. The Word of God is extremely powerful and knowing it makes your prayers more effective. Listen to what the Lord says: "So shall My word be which goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me empty, without accomplishing what I desire, and without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it." (Isaiah 55:11) God honors his word. He wants us to remind him of his promises and call on him to perform what he has declared.
In order to pray the Word you have to know what's in there so you'll need to be reading the Bible and meditating on His word every day. And more than just read it, you need to slow down and really think about what you are reading, contemplate it, chew on it over and over until it fills your soul with gladness and ask the Lord to bring it alive for you. As you learn more of it you can begin praying it.I have found that once I have read the word and meditated on it, that later on down the road of life, the Holy Spirit is able to bring the word back up into my remembrance when I have a need for its promise in my life! There is no circumstance you will ever be in where the Word of God will not have something to say and to pray for you. Begin today to pray God's Word and see your prayer life flourish like a perennial flower garden that grows lusher year by year.
Jesus our Messiah paid the complete price for your freedom and for your victory over sin and for restoration of fellowship with your heavenly Father. But you have to appropriate or assign everything he did for you. Throughout your life Satan will be fighting tooth and nail to prevent you from taking possession of your spiritual inheritance. Don't worry; you win. It's a lifelong battle but don't be discouraged by that; be excited and be prepared.God wants us to win every single skirmish and he has provided all the equipment we need to do so.
Hey no one wants to live in a continual battle, we all hate to be at war all the time, but you know, that is just the way it is, this life is a battle ground, like it or not, and the war wages in our minds 24/7 , we may not like it, but we must accept it because even if you don't want to do battle, Satan does, we are forced into this conflict and we must contend for the faith. Can you accept that this battle is inevitable and lifelong? Then if you have been whining and complaining and having a pity party over the hard places in your life, stop right now and do something constructive instead. By the way, I confess I can't even count the number of times I've done those things; that's why I can tell you plainly it is a waste of time as far as strategy for winning any battle you are in. So folks we are in battle, so lets get the right weapons and strategy to win the battle and this blasted war!
Prayer is Your Assault Weapon in Spiritual Warfare so lets put on the full armor of God."be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power." (vs. 10) Nothing can correct your battle attitude better than remembering this critical truth. You are to fight in God's strength and power, not your own. Your weakness is actually to your advantage. Elsewhere in scripture God says; "My strength is made perfect in weakness." (I Corinthians 12:9) Many people unnecessarily give up because they see that the attack is too much for them. Come to the conclusion sooner rather than later that it is too much for you so that God's strength can take over.
In spiritual battle you must operate with both a good defense AND a good offense. Ephesians 6 . First, truth will be your belt. It's what holds you up so let the truth of God encircle everything in your life.
Next is the breastplate of righteousness. It covers your heart which should be clean from any sin. If you have received Jesus into your heart you have his righteousness to rely on. Just make sure all sin is confessed and dealt with before entering into spiritual warfare. On your feet you will wear shoes of peace so that everywhere you walk you can spread the good news of God's peace and of his kingdom. Satan's kingdom is chaotic, warlike, treacherous and menacing and the peace you carry will be a great contrast, easy for people to see and feel.
Now pick up in your hand the shield of faith; be ready to turn it in any direction to "quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one." Some of those fiery darts are doubts, unbelief, discouragement, and hopelessness. With your shield of faith you can prevent them from reaching the innermost parts of your soul. Next is the helmet of salvation. A helmet is covering for your head where all the mind games are going on. Which is our major battle ground, so remember it well, You are in Christ, and it is His Righteousness that has cleansed you of all wrong doing, so when your mind is covered in salvation winning the battle is all but inevitable.
Much of this armor is protecting you from assault but the last item is your offensive weapon: Here is your power weapon! it is the "sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God." Remember that Jesus used the word of God to counter the temptations of Satan before he started his public ministry. He kept saying to Satan; "It is written…" and then resisted the devil's invitation to sin with scripture. (See Matthew Chapter 4) The better you know the word of God the better equipped you are to wield it like a sword. Therefore you should be reading and studying scripture every day. When Satan comes with a lie, you counter with the truth.
Do not be surprised or shaken by the intensity of the battle that will present itself at times in your life. You and I were destined to be great warriors in God's kingdom. Every war has an objective; each side is fighting over something. The greater the value of the prize to each side; the harder they fight. In spiritual warfare, we are battling over eternal things. The devil is trying desperately to hold on to every inch of ground, both in your life and on the earth. It is our job as God's warriors to make him give up everything he is holding illegally and establish the kingdom of God everywhere in our life and all over the earth. Join the battle. Pray smart. Don't pray naked.

HYPOCRISY, AND THE BELIEVER

READ: Matthew 15:1-9
These people draw near to Me with their mouth, and honor Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me. —Matthew 15:8
The caller to the radio program mentioned religion, so the radio talk show host began to rant about hypocrites. “I can’t stand religious hypocrites,” he said. “They talk about religion, but they’re no better than I am. That’s why I don’t like all this religious stuff.”
This man didn’t realize it, but he was agreeing with God. God has made it clear that He can’t stand hypocrisy either. It’s ironic, though, that something God opposes is used by some people as an excuse not to seek Him.
Jesus said this about hypocrisy: “These people draw near to Me with their mouth, and honor Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me. And in vain they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men” (Matt. 15:8-9).
Notice what Jesus said to perhaps the biggest hypocrites of His day, the Pharisees. In Matthew 23, He called them hypocrites—not once, not twice, but seven times! They were religious people who were putting on a big show, but God knew their hearts. He knew they were far from Him.
Non-Christians who point out hypocrisy in us when they see it are right in doing so. They are agreeing with God, who also despises it. Our task is to make sure our lives honor the One who deserves our total dedication. — Dave Branon
Hypocrisy is a common sin That grieves the Lord above; He longs for those who’ll worship Him In faith and truth and love. —Bosch
The devil is content to let us profess Christianity as long as we do not practice it.

What an interesting and insightful devotion today!

When reading different blogs on various beliefs I am amazed with how true the above devotion subject is. Many atheist and non believers sight HYPOCRISY as being the number one reason not to believe in the Christian or Biblical God, and in so doing are in totally agreement with the Christian and Biblical God!

While reading the Scriptures I am struck with the fact that the many of the reasons for God's displeasure with His people in all of the Bible is HYPOCRISY!

Why is that so? It would seem that we would rather be 'religious' in our dealings with God and Humanity than allow the changes of our behaviors to come from within and do what our LORD would have us do. But instead we would rather do religious looking things, that doesn't do any good ,for us or for God.

The main point of focus of all Jesus Christ ,The Messiah's words ,are that of righteous action and service to God and our fellow humans, through and by the correct intention and motivation, which is LOVE.

You would think, by reading so many times about the religious ceremonies and sacrifices done within the pages of Scripture , that for the people of Israel that their God was only interested in this function of their service to Him. But time and time again in the Tanach/Old Covenant and within the New Covenant Scriptures that , they were very much mistaken on what God truly wanted from them and from us.

God wants a people to be and live 'righteous' and to do 'justice',with their fellow wo/man. Jesus the Messiah wants all that we do in His name , which is EVERYTHING we do, be done with the right motivation and intention and in the right spirit ,which is to love and be of service for the good of everyone. God does not want us to have a 'fast' and go without food, unless we give the food we would of eaten to someone who has none, otherwise fasting is only a religious waste of time. God wants to re-create our minds ,our hearts, our emotions, which are our Soul. God is looking to change our 'intentions' and the reasons we do the things we do. It is not our actions that God wants to change in our lives, but the motives and the whys that come from within ,which are the reasons we do what we do. When Christ the Messiah was broadening and enlightening us on the true meaning of keeping and doing God's Laws, He was showing us that it is not the murdering and the thieving and the coveting that we do that is problem, they are just the symptoms of sin, but what is behind all the symptoms of sin, it is the intention and motivation of our hearts, when we hate, murder is sometimes the result, when we lust, adultery is sometimes the result. Sin is not just the outward actions of murder, rape ,lust, envy, they are only the Symptoms of the deadly disease that we have inherited, Sin is the nature within us that needs to be healed, and taken out of us, and that is only done by Christ moving in within us, religion only places band-aids to the problem or religion causes or hides the problems. The Spirit of God within is the cure for the problem, and only through Christ the Messiah can the remedy for religion, hypocrisy and sin be found.

Jesus says that we are defiled not by what we eat, or drink, or touch, we are defiled from within our being, where all the evil motivations and intentions spring from. Sin is not playing cards, or gambling, or drinking alcohol, or how we dress, Sin is our Nature, it is who we 'are' with out Christ the Messiah renewing a right spirit within us. We are only able to do what is right, when our intentions are right, we are only able to not kill, steal, or harm, when our hearts and soul, our very nature has been changed to real love, and that can only happen when our nature is destroyed and buried and a new one takes it's place, and that can ONLY be done by the New Birth, which is the resurrection of our dead spirits when we call upon the Name of Yahshua the Messiah, Jesus Christ to move in within us and resurrect our dead spirit and remove our sin nature , and replace it with His.

There is only one cure for humanity and that is Jesus Christ, the true and only Messiah. Without Him renewing a right mind and thinking within us , hypocrisy, sin and hate will only continue and grow, for humanity is unable to cure a sin nature that all of us have inherited ,this deadly disease 'sin' is in our DNA. The cure for this deadly disease that we all have is available , if only you call on the true Physician who is able to remove the sin diseased nature which causes death and replace it with true health and vitality with His very LIFE by the entrance of His Spirit within us......

The part that hangs up many unbelievers and believers as well is that we are not changed over night in our Mind/Soul, just our Spirits have been reborn and have been brought into right standing with God. But once we have begun the 'process' of salvation after our New spiritual birth, we now have to undergo the process of salvation and sanctification which deals with our Souls, which involves the constant renewing of our minds, thoughts, intention, will, and emotions, this process is ongoing and continues until our bodies dies. The believer is under the process of 'judgement' now, that is when they do that which is not in line with their new natures, acts that are not loving and in fact looks like hypocrisy to unbelievers, the Holy Spirit will 'convicts' them of their behavior until the believer realizes where they have missed it, then ,when they have understood the message from the Holy Spirit, that they have behaved ,not in line with their new natures, then they need to repent ,which means to change their thinking on this situation, until it is in agreement with God, ask forgiveness, and then they can continue on with their life. The Judgement for the Body of Christ ,is already in progress, it is happening NOW, and it is the very same Judgement all unbelievers will go through when they stand before God on Judgement Day, they receive all their correction all at one time, we the Christian have it in small segments when we step out of alignment with God's true character now in this life. God's Judgement is always for correction! Now or later and the end results in both cases is death to our sin nature.

Personally I would rather have God's Judgement in small increments and knowing that my spirit is made right and just in God's sight because of what Jesus has done for me in that He has removed all the bad Karma and Sin in me and replaced my spirit nature with His, than to face God's Judgement without knowing this and have God's Judgement all at once.......with out Jesus who has removed all of one's blemishes and sin...but now they must face God with all their karma and sin still on and in them . For we will reap what we sow, unless Jesus steps in and removes the outcome of our sowing behavior, but the fact of the matter is ,that it is not IF we will be Judged but only When we will be judged, it's either ,now or later, and that choice is truly our own.

DEVOTION FROM MY UTMOST FOR HIS HIGHEST

April 22, 2009
The Light That Never Fails

We all, with unveiled face, beholding . . . the glory of the Lord . . . —2 Corinthians 3:18
A servant of God must stand so very much alone that he never realizes he is alone. In the early stages of the Christian life, disappointments will come— people who used to be lights will flicker out, and those who used to stand with us will turn away. We have to get so used to it that we will not even realize we are standing alone. Paul said, ". . . no one stood with me, but all forsook me . . . . But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me . . ." (2 Timothy 4:16-17 ). We must build our faith not on fading lights but on the Light that never fails. When "important" individuals go away we are sad, until we see that they are meant to go, so that only one thing is left for us to do— to look into the face of God for ourselves.
Allow nothing to keep you from looking with strong determination into the face of God regarding yourself and your doctrine. And every time you preach make sure you look God in the face about the message first, then the glory will remain through all of it. A Christian servant is one who perpetually looks into the face of God and then goes forth to talk to others. The ministry of Christ is characterized by an abiding glory of which the servant is totally unaware— ". . . Moses did not know that the skin of his face shone while he talked with Him" ( Exodus 34:29 ).
We are never called on to display our doubts openly or to express the hidden joys and delights of our life with God. The secret of the servant’s life is that he stays in tune with God all the time.

_________________________________________________

As I read this , this morning it was after I had written a prayer to God in my journal. I had asked to be connected with others, you see, I don't have a Church home, or a denominational branding,I travel full time with my Agnostic but very loving Husband on the road, he is a trucker. So being involved with other believers,is ,for the time being, something that does not exist for me. I feel that I am flopping all around, not at all steady in my beliefs in God, not really sure exactly what I believe other than, Jesus is truly my Lord, He is a historical fact! not a myth. He live ,died, was buried and rose again, and is now interceding for me at the right hand of God.
So reading this , I felt that God had answered my prayer at least for today, for right now and that is that I should:Allow nothing to keep you from looking with strong determination into the face of God regarding yourself and your doctrine . And that He shows me what Paul had to say about being alone: Paul said, ". . . no one stood with me, but all forsook me . . . . But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me .
I have not been forsaken by others, but by circumstances I am alone on this journey of faith, God is telling me that I must continually look to Him for my source of life, inspiration, belief, faith, doctrine, and not on others to guide me. I believe that as part of the personal lesson that I am learning is that this is what I need. Apparently sense I have been 'alone' most of my life when it comes to God and belief and faith, not that I am physically alone, my husband, who has shown me truly unconditional love and patience, as I try to live with chronic pain and mobility issues has been by my side for 32 years but not with me as a Christian, I fear that I have fed him with much to be faithless over and for that I ask God to forgive me and the seeds of discontent and unbelief that I have planted in my husbands life I dearly ask for crop failure! for it was never my intention to aid in his unbelief, what the devotional says about speaking out loud about of fears and doubts have proven so true:"We are never called on to display our doubts openly ""The secret of the servant’s life is that he stays in tune with God all the time.."

I fear that I have over the years planted many seeds of confusion, and doubts to my husband, I never intended to cause harm but I did. I would speak of my doubts, and questions about biblical things to the point that it left no room for faith to grow in him. I thought that by airing my questions and trying to find the answers that it would be a good thing, but I now know that it was truly the worse thing one could do. So I ask for God to forgive me for displaying my doubts openly and not secretly before Him. Please God, a crop failure here is needed!

Thank you for these words of wisdom , Lord

SHALOM

In Him

VEGAN DIET FOR LIONS AND CATS?

STRAW-EATING LIONS AND VEGETARIAN CATS -
A cat in Tasburgh, England, has become relatively famous for his peculiar cuisine choices; he refuses to eat meat. Since his owner Becky Page rescued the starved kitten from an alley two years ago, she has only been able to get him to eat fruits and vegetables. Cat experts are befuddled by this vegetarian feline, but kitty Dante may not be so strange after all. Perhaps Dante is simply a genetic throwback to the days before the Flood and a precursor to what carnivores will be like in the Millennium.
After Becky Page, 21, brought home little Dante two years ago, she proceeded to try to fatten him on chicken and fish and tuna. Dante just turned up his nose at the stuff. Instead, he chowed down on a dish of leftover vegetables he found near her kitchen garbage. Now Dante only eats fruits and vegetables, which Page raises herself. He won't touch canned cat food.
Dante's tastes go beyond mere finicky feline syndrome; he simply should not exist. Cats do not usually have the choice to go vegan because they are obligate carnivores. That is, they must eat meat to survive. Felines have a high protein requirement, and they need certain nutrients like taurine and cobalamin (Vitamin B12) which come from meat. Cats are the only mammals incapable of synthesizing the organic acid taurine and must obtain it from animal flesh or supplements. Without sufficient taurine, cats can eventually lose hair and teeth, develop heart disease, and go blind. While meat is its best source, Vitamin B12 can also be found in eggs and milk, and is necessary for the healthy functioning of the brain and nervous system. A cat simply cannot thrive on a vegan diet.
Dante is therefore an aberration in the Cat Family. "I admit he has a very, very unique appetite," Page acknowledged, "but he's certainly healthy."
Sarah Medway, who runs a web site dedicated to cat behavior, said "I have never heard of a purely vegetarian cat. Nutritionally cats need to eat meat to survive.”
Yet, Dante is not absolutely alone. Many years ago, Georges and Margaret Westbeau of western Washington adopted a newborn lioness they named Little Tyke. When it was time to wean her, the Westbeaus were surprised that the growing cub refused to eat meat. She'd reject milk if it had even a drop of blood in it
At first, the Westbeaus were deeply concerned because Little Tyke absolutely would not touch meat. For four years they tried every which way to get protein down her in the form of flesh, and she would not accept it. Then one day somebody said to them, "Don't you read your Bible? Read Genisis 1:30, and you will get your answer."
"And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to everything that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so." -Gen 1:30
That verse helped the Westbeaus to stop worrying. They fed Little Tyke various grains, milk and eggs – a diet she thrived on. The milk and eggs would have provided Little Tyke with some of the B12 she needed, but not the taurine. Yet, Little Tyke lived strong and healthy for years. She would go out into the field and chew on grass stalks every day to condition her stomach. She also had no predatory nature, and lived in peace with the chickens and sheep and peafowl and kittens on the Westbeaus' ranch. A famous picture was taken one day when a lamb, Becky, curled up between Little Tyke's front paws, bringing to mind the picture from Isaiah 11:6-7:
"The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox." - Isaiah 11:6-7
Dante and Little Tyke are not freaks of nature; they are reminders of how nature was meant to be. The world at the Creation looked quite a bit different than it does today. Thousands of years of genetic deterioration have left all creatures with bodies prone to illness and disease and early death. It isn't the same world in which Adam died a young man at 930 years. The Flood apparently changed a lot of things. Lifespans split in half after the Flood, and after the Flood God gave man permission to eat meat (Genesis 9:2-3). We don't know all that changed and weakened during that time, between animal bodies and the nutrients found in plant life.
Cats may not have originally needed meat to survive. Certainly saber-toothed tigers used their massive teeth to rip through the flesh of their prey, yet God's original purpose for those sabers might have been something far more peaceful, like splitting open melons. (If your cat adores cantaloupe, you know what I mean.)
The picture Isaiah 11 paints of the Millennium is of a world that has returned to Eden. Jesus will be ruling, and things will be as they should. The wolves and lions will dwell peacefully with lambs. No wild animals will do damage. Humans will once again live to be great ages (Isaiah 65:20-25).
We are not there, yet, but kitties like Little Tyke and Dante give us the tiniest breath of that fresh air, a whiff of the loveliness that will once again fill the earth once the Son of David takes the throne. Even so, come Lord Jesus.

WE HAVE THE FREEDOM NOT TO CONDEMN

Add Image
"God is spirit and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth." (NKJV ).
What I find to be the most wonderful element that is happening in Christendom these days,is that many Churches and believers are beginning to understand that it is not in the 'correct' liturgy of how a church should conduct services but how much love ,mercy and compassion can we show to ourselves , our loved ones, our communities, and our world. What is more important, from Jesus' perspective? The exact and most correct way to have corporate worship or how many ways can we love and care for each other? As believers we are all free in Christ to worship during whatever seasons and on whatever days we find fitting and appropriate. It is not the manner of how we celebrate Godde, but that we do. The correctness of the ways we do our worship is truly a matter between ourselves and Godde. The first thing that might help us get some perspective is to understand that worshipping is a human response to Godde—who S/he is, what S/he has done and what S/he is doing. It is an active, often spontaneous, celebration of Godde's work through Christ. It is in our worship as Believers and the fact, that we are participating with Christ in His work of human redemption. We must remember that to love one another does not require that we must abandon our own unique cultural values. It means we must learn to respect the cultural values of others, without feeling threatened ourselves. I believe that the main reason is their fear and the feeling threatened by different ideas which are truly hard for them to move through, and we must understand their fear and aid them in maturing in the faith and help them realize that Godde is more than capable of directing and guiding us in the way we should go. Of course, if a particular cultural value is sinful, we must abandon it. But most of our cultural values are not sinful; many are neutral and many are quite compatible with godliness in Christ. As Paul wrote to the church in Rome: "He who regards one day as special, does so to the Lord. He who eats meat, eats to the Lord, for he gives thanks to God; and he who abstains, does so to the Lord and gives thanks to God" (Romans 14:6).
The question that we might ask ourselves is:Can we let this principle rule our attitudes toward one another? If our fellow believers in other congregations are gathering to worship the Lord, then surely we should not get upset about the particular choice of days they worship or the manner in which they worship, but the fact they they are worshiping and praising Godde as they know how to do at the time . What is truly the most important aspect of our faith? That a particular group worship as you believe they should? In all seriousness, how do you know that you are correct? From my personal experience especially in the area of religion ,is that many believe 'they' are the one's who are correct and 'they' are the only one who hear from Godde, but what is amazing is that all who say such nonsense are hearing supposedly from the same Spirit, and all are saying something different, how confusing is that ? So what are we to say or do in that regard? What we need to do is to make sure that what we believe and do is true to our own experience, conscience , and relationship with Godde, and let Godde deal with others in the matter of what is right or not, that is all we can hope do.How do we treat one another? Are we angry and judgmental? Are we considerate and patient? Do we try to understand and appreciate the feelings of those who differ from us? What is the real value of worshiping in a different fashion at all, if the fruit of our worship is judgmentalism and condemnation?Within the essential and central framework of Christian doctrines there is much room for diversity. Our Universal Godde is a lover of diversity which we all can see within the vastness of creation! For me , it shows a Godde that loves a variety of colors, smells, shapes, sizes, etc.. so therefore we can safely assume that our diverse ways of celebrating our faith in Godde ,leaves room for our differences in the ways we worship and in the applications of our services to Godde. We must have the unity in our worship of Godde, the faithful observance of the sacraments (the Lord's Supper and baptism, etc. )of our faith and the faithful proclamation of the Word.We have diversity in the styles and forms we use in administering the sacraments, proclaiming the Word and worshiping the Lord. The Holy Spirit makes us one in Christ, and our diversity in how we express that unity ,which is truly a gift of Godde.
I am encouraged that many Christians, Churches, and denominations have seen the error of their ways and are coming together in the spirit of love ,compassion, and mercy that has been and is continually shown to us by our Savior. We must endeavor to live by the words of Paul when he said:"One person considers one day more sacred than another; another person considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind" (Romans 14:5).
We must not go the route of the God Police and enforce what we think are the true rules of the faith, for the only true rule of Jesus was to Love Godde and ourselves and others, if we can endeavor to carry that out we will not be to far from the Kingdom.
Blessed be, be a blessing

THE MEASURE OF A GOOD PERSON

The Measure of a Good Person
If you can start the day without caffeine;
If you can get along without pep pills;
If you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles;
If you can eat the same food every day and be grateful for it;
If you can understand when your loved ones are too busy to give you any time;
If you can overlook it when something goes wrong
through no fault of yours, and those you love take it out on you;
If you can take criticism and blame without resentment;
If you can ignore a friend’s limited education and never correct him;
If you can resist treating a rich friend better than a poor friend;
If you can face the world without lies and deceit;
If you can conquer tension without medical help;
If you can relax without liquor;
If you sleep without the aid of drugs;
If you can say honestly that deep in your heart you have no prejudice against creed, color, religion or politics;
Then my friends, you are almost as good as your dog.

WISDOM FROM THE ARK

Wisdom from the Ark
All I need to know I learned
from the story of Noah's Ark
One - Don't miss the boat
Two - Remember that we are all in the same boat.
Three - Plan ahead. It wasn't raining when Noah built the Ark.
Four - Stay fit. When you're 600 years old some may ask you to do something really big.
Five - Don't listen to critics, just get on with the job that needs to be done.
Six - Build your future on high ground.
Seven - For safety's sake travel in pairs.
Eight - Speed isn't always an advantage. The snails were on board with the cheetahs.
Nine - When you're stressed, float awhile.
Ten - Remember the Ark was built by amateurs, the Titanic by professionals.
Eleven - No matter the storm, when you are with GOD there's always a rainbow waiting.

The process of Salvation

Many Christians do not really know what Salvation really is, or means and because of that , have accepted many doctrines and traditions that are not biblical.
The salvation Christ won for us is applied to us in stages, rather than all at once. The first stage is effectual calling, when God, through the preaching of the gospel, inwardly and successfully summons the elect to faith. Effectual calling is given together with regeneration, the act of the Holy Spirit whereby He changes our sinful hearts into hearts that love and cherish Christ. Regeneration thus enables and causes the elect to respond to the Father's call, and they do so in faith and repentance. God then, at the moment the elect believe, justifies them. Justification is a legal act of God in which He forgives our sins, gives to us the righteousness of Christ, and declares us righteous in His sight.
It is important to understand that in justification we are declared righteous, but not made righteous. He declares us righteous on the basis of what Christ did, not on the basis of any good thing that is in us. The aspect of our salvation in which we are continually made more and more righteous is called sanctification. Whereas justification is an instantaneous act of God in which we are declared righteous (rather than made righteous), sanctification is a process--a process in which we are actually made righteous.
At death God completes our sanctification, and so removes all of our sins from our hearts and makes us perfectly holy. But even though our sanctification is complete at death, our salvation is not yet complete because we are still without our glorified resurrection bodies. These are given in the final stage of the application of our salvation, which is glorification. Then our salvation will be fully applied to us, and we will live forever in the new heavens and new earth as glorified saints, enjoying all of the benefits of salvation that Christ won for us.
Glorification is the resurrection of our bodies to eternal glory Here is a very significant, yet often ignored, truth of the Bible: Our bodies will one day be raised! Christianity does not teach the immortality of the soul--the belief that our bodies are like prisons, and thus death is a great blessing to liberate us from these prisons so that we can continue living forever as disembodied spirits. Rather, Christianity teaches the resurrection of the body. As the apostle's creed says, "We believe in the resurrection of the body." Our bodies are not prisons, but are part of who we are. Of course our souls will live forever. But they will live forever in our bodies, not apart from them.
And on another vein of thought, concerning those who do not accept the life offered to us by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, what happens to them? Well those not found written in the Lamb's Book of Life, which is the book where our names are written in when we confess and believe in Jesus Christ and what He did for us, if their names are not there they are cast into the Lake of Fire, which is the second death (Rev. 20:12-15). These unsaved people get just what they have actually chosen. They lived life on earth as though there was nothing else to look forward to, and the wages of their sin is death. To say that they have willingly chosen everlasting burning is ludicrous, but it is clear that most people choose to live for this life alone. In the same way that they chose to live, they are essentially given no afterlife. However, some of us are saved from death in the Lake of Fire. We are saved from what we very clearly deserve.
All of us are given this life we have now as a gift of God, this is all we get ,you can live it as you choose to live it, you really can do as you please, living life large as they say, eat, drink and be merry and then you die. This is truly God's gift to us, we never existed before our life, and now we do, all by the Grace of God. But if you want more out of this life, to know the purpose of this life and to know our Maker and have eternal life, then you must meet the requirements of the Life Giver and that is living our life as God says to live it, He made us and it is His rules we must go by in order to have more out of this life and to have life Eternal in union with God.Many have lived with the assumptions that we are eternal beings, but that is not so.There is not even one verse in the entire Bible that teaches the supposed "immortality of the soul" doctrine so prevalent in most Christian theology. Instead, it is made very clear that only God has eternal life, and He bestows immortality only to those whom He chooses—not to everyone. And so it goes.

So called similiarites of Christ and Pagan Gods

I am amazed at how low people can go to try to debunk another's religion and belief system. If you do not believe in Jesus or Christianity you know where the door is. No one is forcing you to believe in anything, so why the waste of time and energy trying to use lies to debunk what you can not prove? Go to this website for more copy cat /similarities of pagan gods and Christ. but here are a few biggies.
http://kingdavid8.com/copycat/home/html
For instance :

Aren’t there some striking parallels between the Jesus and Apollo stories?
Like what? Apollo was a Greek god who was the son of Zeus and Lito and the twin brother of Artemis. He was the god of music and an archer. He was associated with the swan, wolf, and dolphin. He had many romantic relationships with goddesses as well as mortal women (and even a prince named Hyacinthus!). There was no virgin birth or resurrection, or anything which strongly parallels to Jesus.
Links
Encyclopedia Mythica: ApolloProbert Encyclopedia: Greek and Roman Mythology (A)Wikipedia: ApolloGreek Mythology Link: ApolloEncyclopedia Of Greek Mythology: Apollo

Aren’t there some striking parallels between the Jesus and Buddha stories?
Most of us are somewhat familiar with Buddha. He was also known as Siddhartha Gautama and Shakyamuni Buddha, and he lived between 563 and 483 B.C. Buddha neither claimed to be god or a messenger of god. The definitive biography of Buddha was written by Ashvaghosha in the 1st century.
1. Buddha was born on December 25th of the virgin Maya, and his birth was attended by a "Star of Announcement," wise men and angels singing heavenly songs.
According to Ashvaghosha, Buddha was born of the King of Shakyas and his wife, Maya. He wrote that they "tasted of love's delights" before Buddha was born, thus Buddha was certainly not born of a virgin. The earliest accounts suggest nothing unusual about Buddha's birth, but later (still pre-Christian) versions suggest Buddha was conceived non-sexually, but don't state that mommy was a virgin. His birthday is never celebrated on (or believed to be) December 25th (by some traditions, it's May 8th - hey, that's my birthday! I guess I'm a myth!), and there was no star or angels at his birth by any tradition. The king did invite 108 Brahmins to the palace to celebrate his birth, and these could be called 'wise men'. However, there were no 'wise men' of any sort at Jesus' birth, as the Biblical appearance of the wise men happened at Jesus' home in Bethlehem when He was one or two years old.
Acharya S. claims in "The Christ Conspiracy" that "Mr. Robertson shows from St. Jerome that the Buddhists themselves did call Maya 'a virgin' - they believed in a 'virgin birth'." So we have the Buddhists telling St. Jerome who tells Mr. Robertson, from whom Acharya S. heard it... You'd think if this was a common belief, Acharya would be able to find a direct source instead of a third-hand source.
2. At his birth, he was pronounced ruler of the world and presented with "costly jewels and precious substances."
Sort of true for Buddha, but not true for Jesus. The forementioned Brahmins did predict that Buddha would be either the ruler of the world or the greatest religious founder of the world, and Buddha (apparently quite smart for an infant) chose the latter. So in Buddha's case, he was not pronounced ruler of the world. And as for Jesus, He was not pronounced ruler of the world at His birth, either, so how would it compare even if this was true for Buddha?
As for the gifts, while it could be assumed that, as the child of a king, Buddha would be given costly presents, no texts specifically say that he was bestowed with such gifts. And, again, as for Jesus, He was not given costly gifts at His birth. The delivery of the frankincense, gold, and myrrh happened when the wise men came to Jesus' home when he was one or two years old, not at the manger when he was just born.
3. His life was threatened by a king "who was advised to destroy the child, as he was liable to overthrow him."
First of all, there are many versions of the Buddha story, and this event occurs only in a rare version unfamiliar to most Buddhists. Secondly, this event doesn't correspond to the Biblical story of Herod's attempt to kill Jesus in Matthew chapter 2. Matthew wrote that killing Jesus was Herod's idea. In the Buddha story, the king in question (Bimbasara) is advised to destroy Buddha, but rejects this advice. So while Bimbasara is advised to kill Buddha, Herod is not advised to kill Jesus. While Herod wants, and attempts, to kill Jesus, Bimbasara does not want, or attempt, to kill Buddha.
4. Was of royal lineage.
This one's true, but not very meaningful. Buddha was the son of a king, while Jesus was a distant descendant (along with most of His neighbors) of King David. Millions of people are descended from royalty somewhere down the line (I've even heard a theory that all Europeans are descendants of Charlemagne), so this one is hardly unique of either of them.
5. Taught in the Temple at age 12.
Well, the first word is true. He indeed 'taught'. But it wasn't in a temple, and he wasn't twelve. He was fifteen.
6. Crushed a serpent's head (as was traditionally said of Jesus) and was tempted by Mara, the "Evil One," when fasting.
Tradition mentions Buddha killing a serpent, but it doesn't say that he crushed its head (the exact method of execution isn't given). Mara was AN "evil one", not THE "evil one" (the critic here is clearly trying to imply that she was the Buddhist equivalent of the devil, when in fact Mara was one of many demons). Other than the fact that both Buddha and Jesus were tempted while fasting by an evil being, which I'll admit is somewhat of a coincidence, there's not much to compare the two stories. Buddha was not in a desert, as Jesus was. Buddha was tempted with incestual pleasures and fear of death, while Jesus was tempted with hunger, putting God to the test, and idolatry. Besides that, the temptations of Jesus bear far more of a resemblance to the temptations of the Israelites in the book of Exodus (which predates Buddha) than they do to the temptations of Buddha, so any claim that Buddha's temptations are the basis of Jesus' temptations are ridiculous.
7. Was baptized in water, with the "Spirit of God" or "Holy Ghost" present.
There's nothing in any Buddha story or tradition about his being baptized.
8. Performed miracles and wonders, healed the sick, fed 500 men from a "small basket of cakes," and walked on water.
He may have healed the sick, but the earliest Buddhist scriptures make no mention of his having performed any supernatural feats such as feeding 500 men from a small amount of food or walking on water. There does appear to be a story about a follower walking on water, but not Buddha himself.
9. Abolished idolatry, was a "sower of the word," and preached the "establishment of a kingdom of righteousness."
Not true of Buddha. Not true of Jesus, either. Buddhism encourages idolatry, and idolatry was abolished in the Judeo-Christian faith long before Jesus arrived. There are no specific references to Buddha being a "sower of the word" or preaching the "establishment of a kingdom of righteousness", but in general these terms would apply to almost any religious figure.
10. Followers were obliged to take vows of poverty and to renounce the world.
True of Buddha, but not true of Jesus. While many Christians do take vows of poverty and renounce the world, Jesus Himself never told all of His followers to do such things. Of course, there is the story of Jesus telling a wealthy young ruler to give everything he has to the poor, but this was a specific command to one man, not a general command to all followers.
11. Was transfigured on a mount, when it was said that his face "shone as the brightness of the sun and moon."
This one's sort of true. For Buddha, his transfiguration had to do with him reaching a certain level in his spiritual evolution, which caused outward physical changes. For Jesus, His transfiguration was His revealing who He was from the beginning. Jesus' transfiguration had nothing to do with his attaining any sort of higher level.
12. In some traditions, died on a cross.
Buddha didn't die on a cross in any traditions. Every reference I've seen states that he died at the age of 80 of a natural illness. If anyone can find an unbiased reference stating he died on a cross, please E-mail me.
UPDATE: A visitor pointed out to me that Buddha actually died of poisoning. Most of the sites I'm finding about Buddha don't mention this, but some do. This does appear to be the case.
13. Was resurrected, as his coverings were unrolled from his body and his tomb was opened by supernatural powers.
Nope. Buddha was cremated upon his death and was not resurrected in any tradition.
14. Ascended bodily to Nirvana or "heaven."
Clearly the critics here have no understanding of the Buddhist concept of Nirvana. Nirvana is a state where the soul is freed from the limitations of the body, so the idea that anyone can ascend 'bodily' into Nirvana is laughable.
15. Was called Lord, Master, Light of the World, God of Gods, Father of the World, Almighty and All-knowing Ruler, Redeemer of All, Holy One, the Author of Happiness, Possessor of All, the Omnipotent, the Supreme Being, the Eternal One.
Of the above, Buddha was only called 'Lord'. And a lot of these don't apply to Jesus, either.
16. Was considered a Sin Bearer, Good Shepherd, the Carpenter, the Infinite and Everlasting, and the Alpha and Omega.
Buddha was considered none of them.
17. Came to fulfill, not to destroy, the law.
Nope. He preached the law, but made no mention of the fulfillment or destruction of the law.
18. Is to return "in the latter days" to restore order and to judge the dead.
There is no mention in Buddhism of the old Buddha returning. They believe there will be a completely separate Buddha who will be born. This Buddha will restore order and bring world peace, but not judge the dead. Jesus made no promise of restoring order or bringing world peace on His return.

Aren’t there some striking parallels between the Jesus and Dionysus stories?
Hardly. Dionysus (known by the Romans as Bacchus) was a Greek god who, among other things, gave and revoked Midas' power to turn everything he touched into gold. The original source of the list of comparisons comes from the book "The Jesus Mysteries" by Freke and Gandy. Let's check out this list (plus a few other claims people have added):
1. Dionysus was born of a virgin on December 25th and, as the Holy Child, was placed in a manger.
Actually, his birth was always celebrated on January 6th. Also, his mother, Semele, was impregnanted sexually by Zeus. He was never referred to as the "Holy Child" or placed in a manger in any version of the story.
2. His birth was announced with a heavenly display and celestial music.
I can find no reference to either, and there is no "celestial music" in the Jesus story.
3. He was a traveling teacher who performed miracles.
This is true. However, this phrase loses any similarities with Jesus when we deal with the specifics of what Dionysus did. Jesus traveled in a limited area, while Dionysus supposedly traveled to most of the known world (including Greece, Persia and Arabia). Jesus' miracles were healings and such - all positive miracles. Dionysus' miracles were judgments against those who defied him.
4. He "rode in a triumphal procession on an ass" and "is often pictured astride a donkey, which carries him to meet his passion" a scene re-enacted with crowds "shout[ing] the praises of Dionysus and wav[ing] bundles of branches."
This claim mixes two things, one semi-valid, one invalid. Dionysus was dipicted riding a donkey while a crowd waved ivy branches - the typical homecoming for any royal figure. The crowd welcoming Jesus to Jerusalem were imitating this sort of homecoming, though using the traditional palm branches of Israel. So while this could be called a sort of imitation, it's an imitation committed by the people in the story itself, not by any writer. The latter quotes come from the book "The Jesus Mysteries" by Freke and Gandy. Their only reference is to a depiction of a scene from Orphic eschatology which, oddly, has nothing to do with Dionysus.
5. He was a sacred king killed and eaten in a eucharistic ritual for fecundity and purification.
There exists an unofficial story (that is, not part of the general understanding of the Dionysus story) in which he is, as an infant, attacked by Titans who eat everything but his heart. Zeus destroys the Titans, and restores Dionysus from the remaining heart. Who would call the Jesus story a 'copycat' of that story? Taking this 'similarity' apart, yes, Dionysus was killed. His actual body was eaten, but since Jesus' body was not (the eating of Jesus' body is a metaphorical thing), this is not a comparison. Also, Dionysus wasn't eaten in any sort of ritual for fecundity or purification. In fact, the eating of Dionysus is clearly a bad thing (unlike the eating of Jesus' body) and is punished by death. Also, he wasn't a sacred king. The king was Zeus, not Dionysus.
6. Dionysus rose from the dead on March 25th.
Nowhere is the date of March 25th given in any Dionysus story. The date of his "resurrection" after his murder by the Titans is given as November 8th (and as shown in the above answer, this story is hardly similar to the story of Jesus' resurrection and is an unofficial story anyways). There is an ancient reference to Dionysus being "a god who renews himself and returns every year rejuvenated", but this doesn't involve death. Besides that, Jesus didn't rise from the dead on March 25th earlier. While an exact date is not given, most scholars believe that His crucifixion happened no earlier than March 28th, making His resurrection no earlier than March 30th.
7. He was the God of the Vine, and turned water into wine.
Dionysus was indeed "the God of the Vine". However, Jesus wasn't. And the only references to Dionysus turning water into wine are well after Jesus' time, and were thus likely influenced by Christianity and not the other way around.
8. He was called "King of Kings" and "God of Gods."
Nope. These would be odd titles to give Dionysus, his being the son of Zeus, who is the main God in the Greek religion. The titles would only fit Zeus himself, and even he was never referred to by either of these titles.
9. He was considered the "only Begotten Son," "Savior," "Redeemer," "Sin Bearer," "Anointed One," and the "Alpha and Omega", and "Lord God of God born"
Of these, Dionysus is only referred to as 'savior'. And in the context in which he is referred to 'savior', he is saving people from the wrath of Pentheus, not from sin or eternal damnation. So even this is hardly a comparison to Jesus.
10. He was identified with the Ram or Lamb.
In one version, he is born with horns on his head like that of a ram. That's the only mention of a ram in any Dionysus literature, and doesn't compare to Jesus' story at all.
11. His sacrificial title of "Dendrites" or "Young Man of the Tree" intimates he was hung on a tree or crucified.
This was no a 'sacrificial' title in any sense. He was simply called 'Young Man of the Tree'. How does that suggest he was hung on a tree or crucified?
12. At his trial, Dionysus is described by Freke and Gandy as "a quiet stranger with long hair and a beard who brings a new religion."
Dionysus was hardly quiet before King Pentheus, but engaged in quite a bit of dialogue with him. As for "long hair and a beard", most men wore both in those days. In fact, the Bible says nothing about Jesus having long hair or a beard. We only assume He did because they were common for middle-eastern Jews in those days.
13. He offers his followers the chance to be born again through the rites of baptism.
Nope. The followers of Dionysus never claimed to be 'born again' and their 'baptism' had to do with waving a fan above their heads, not submersing them in water.
14. His followers await his return as the judge during the Last Days.
This is not true of any version of the Dionysus story.

Aren’t there some striking parallels between the Jesus and Hercules stories?
Most of us are somewhat familiar with Hercules (aka Alcides and closely related to the Heracles legend).
Here are the critics' claims:
1) Born of a virgin
According to the legend, Zeus disguised himself as King Amphitryon of Troezen, then paid a visit to the king's wife, Alcmene, slept with her and impregnated her. Nine months later, out pops Hercules along with a twin brother, Iphicles, who was fathered by the king. So we can easily scratch out the idea of Hercules' mom being a virgin.
2) Was the son of God
This one is true, Zeus being the primary god in Greek mythology.
3) Was known as the 'savior of the world' and the 'redeemer'.
He was not known by either of these titles, neither did he save the world in any sense or did he 'redeem' people as a whole. He defeated badguys and rescued goodguys, but never granted salvation from sin or died to save any of his followers.
4) Before he was born, his parents wandered to a bigger town.
His father (Zeus) and mother (Alcmene) didn't travel together at all. Except for their brief fling when Zeus was disguised as Amphitryon, they weren't ever together.
5) Prophets foretold his birth and that he would be a king.
Which prophets were those? No such thing appears in the Hercules story.
6) His birth was announced by a "heavenly display" and "celestial music".
Not in any version I've ever seen. Also, there is no celestial music at Jesus' birth, either.
7) Was born on December 25th
Again, not true of the historical Jesus. Also not true of Hercules in any tradition.
8) There was an attempt made on his life while he was an infant.
There was indeed an attempt on his life while he was still an infant, when his step-mother, Juno, put a serpent in his cradle (which Hercules kills), but this hardly compares to Jesus.
9) Was shown all of the kingdoms of the world from a high mountain.
Nope.
10) Walked on water.
Nope.
11) Met with a violent death and was resurrected.
The closest thing I've found to a violent death and resurrection is a story in which Nessus tricks Deianara (Herc's wife) into poisoning him. Hercules doesn't actually die, but the gods intervene and give him eternal life, and he ascends to Mount Olympus.
12) His mother and favorite disciple stood by him when he died.
Again, Hercules never really 'died' in any version of the story, and I can find no mention of his mother or any disciple in the one version in which Deianara poisons him.
13) As he died, tells his mother "Do not cry, I'm going to Heaven."
Nope.
14) Last words were "It is finished".
Nope.
15) When he dies, the Earth trembles and darkness covers the land.
Not in any version I've seen.
16) Ascended to Heaven when he died.
Again, he never really died in any version. In the one in which he has a near-death experience (see #11 above), he does ascend to Mount Olympus, which is a realm populated only by gods, so it's not the Greek equivalent of Heaven.
17) Is said to have conquered death.
According to whom? I suppose the idea that he survived many death-defying situations could mean that he 'conquered death' in some sense, but certainly not in the sense that Jesus did.

Aren’t there some striking parallels between the Jesus and Horus stories?
Hardly. For those unfamiliar with the Horus story, Horus is a character in Egyptian mythology, the son of the gods Isis and Osiris. There actually appear to be multiple dieties named 'Horus', but the one who is the son of Isis and Osiris is the one the critics claim influenced the Jesus story. For a quick and unbiased debunking of this story, go to any search engine and find a site on Egyptian mythology and read the Horus story for yourself (I've provided some links at the bottom of the page), or check the mythology section at your local library (go ahead, I dare you!). Acharya S's book "The Christ Conspiracy" is the apparent source of this list, but the author provides evidentiarly footnotes for only five of the claims, and those footnotes frequently disagree with her own claims!
Here are the claims of parallels between Jesus and Horus, with my responses:
1) Horus was born of the virgin Isis-Meri on December 25th in a cave/manger with his birth being announced by a star in the East and attended by three wise men.
Let’s take this one apart and deal with each separate issue:
Horus’ mother was not a virgin. She was married to Osiris, and there is no reason to suppose she was abstinent after marriage. Horus was, per the story, miraculously conceived. Seth had killed and dismembered Osiris, then Isis put her husband's dead body back together and had intercourse with it. In some versions, she used a hand-made phallus since she wasn't able to find that part of her husband. So while it was a miraculous conception, it was not a virgin birth.
Horus was given three different birthdates in mythology, one of which does correspond to December 25th. But since Jesus wasn't, per the evidence, born on 12/25, this isn't a parallel.
"Meri" (technically "Mr-ee") is the egyptian word for "beloved" and was apparently applied to Isis prior to Jesus' time, as a title, not as part of her name. But since there were probably thousands of women between Horus' time and Jesus' with a name or title that was a variation on "Mary", there's no real reason to suppose that Jesus' mother was named after Isis in particular.
Horus was born in a swamp, not a cave/manger. Acharya's footnotes for this point only make the claim that Jesus was born in a cave, and say nothing about Horus being born in one.
Horus' birth was not announced by a star in the east
There were no “three wise men” at Horus’ birth, or at Jesus’ for that matter (the Bible never gives the number of wise men, and they showed up at Jesus’ home, not at the manger, and probably when Jesus was a year or two old).
Acharya's source for the last two claims appears to be Massey, who says "the Star in the East that arose to announce the birth of the babe (Jesus) was Orion, which is therefore called the star of Horus. That was once the star of the three kings; for the 'three kings' is still a name of three stars in Orion's belt . . . " Massey's apparently getting mixed up, and then the critics are misinterpreting it. Orion is not a star, but a constellation, of which the 'three kings' are a part. And even if there is a specific star called 'the star of Horus', there's no legend stating that it announced Horus' birth (as the critics are claiming) or that the 'three wise men' (the three stars in Orion's belt) attended Horus' birth in any way.
2) His earthly father was named "Seb" ("Joseph").
First of all, there is no parallel between the Egyptian name “Seb” and the Hebrew name “Joseph”, other than the fact that they’re common names. Also, Seb was Osiris’ father, not Horus’.
3) He was of royal descent.
This one’s true! But it's not really a comparison to Jesus. When followers speak of Jesus being of 'royal descent', they usually mean His being a descendent of King David, an earthly king. Horus was, according to the myth, descended from heavenly royalty (as Jesus was), being the son of the main god.
4) At age 12, he was a child teacher in the Temple, and at 30, he was baptized, having disappeared for 18 years.
He never taught in any temple and was never baptized. Also, Jesus didn't 'disappear' in the years between His teaching in the temple and baptism. He worked humbly as a carpenter.
5) Horus was baptized in the river Eridanus or Iarutana (Jordan) by "Anup the Baptizer" ("John the Baptist"), who was decapitated.
Again, Horus was never baptized. There is no “Anup the Baptizer” in the story.
6) He had 12 disciples, two of whom were his "witnesses" and were named "Anup" and "Aan" (the two "Johns").
Horus had four disciples (called ‘Heru-Shemsu’). There’s another reference to sixteen followers, and a group of followers called ‘mesnui’ (blacksmiths) who join Horus in battle, but are never numbered. But there’s no reference to twelve followers or any of them being named “Anup” or “Aan”.
7) He performed miracles, exorcised demons and raised El-Azarus ("El-Osiris"), from the dead.
He did perform miracles, but he never exorcised demons or raised his father from the dead. Also, Osiris is never referred to as ‘El-Azarus’ or ‘El-Osiris’ (clearly an attempt to make his name more closely resemble the Bible’s “Lazarus”).
8) Horus walked on water.
No, he did not.
9) His personal epithet was "Iusa," the "ever-becoming son" of "Ptah," the "Father." He was thus called "Holy Child."
Horus was never referred to as “Iusa” (nor was anyone in Egyptian history - the word does not exist) or “Holy Child”.
10) He delivered a "Sermon on the Mount" and his followers recounted the "Sayings of Iusa."
Horus never delivered such a sermon, and, as pointed out above, he was never referred to as “Iusa”.
11) Horus was transfigured on the Mount.
No, he was not.
12) He was crucified between two thieves, buried for three days in a tomb, and resurrected.
Horus was never crucified. There’s an unofficial story in which he dies and is cast in pieces into the water, then later fished out by a crocodile at Isis’ request. This unofficial story is the only one in which he dies at all.
13) He was also the "Way, the Truth, the Light," "Messiah," "God’s Anointed Son," the "Son of Man," the "Good Shepherd," the "Lamb of God," the "Word made flesh," the "Word of Truth," etc.
The only titles Horus is given are “Great God”, “Chief of the Powers”, “Master of Heaven”, and “Avenger of His Father”. None of the above titles are in any Egyptian mythology.
14) He was "the Fisher" and was associated with the Fish ("Ichthys"), Lamb and Lion.
He was never referred to as “the fisher”, and there are no lamb or lion in any of the stories. Acharya S.'s footnotes on this claim only show an association with fish (which is that Horus WAS a fish, unlike Jesus), with no evidence of his being called 'the fisher' or having any association with a lamb or lion.
15) He came to fulfill the Law.
There was no “law” he was supposed to fulfill.
16) Horus was called "the KRST," or "Anointed One."
He was never referred to by either of these titles. "Krst", in Egyptian, means "burial", by the way. It wasn't a title.
17) Like Jesus, "Horus was supposed to reign one thousand years."
No mention of this in Egyptian mythology.

Aren’t there some striking parallels between the Jesus and Inanna stories?
Some parallels, but nothing striking. Inanna, the Sumerian goddess of love, procreation, and war, was at times considered either a virgin or very promiscuous. In some versions of the story, Inanna descends to the underworld to visit her sister Ereckigala, the goddess of death. As she passes through seven gateways, she is forced to surrender all seven articles of her clothing, one item at a time, finally arriving at her sister's lair naked. Ereckigala becomes furious and kills Inanna, then hangs her on a meathook or nail. Inanna's minister, Nincubar, sends a pair of flies to Ereckigala to bargain for Inanna's release. Ereckigala releases Inanna on the condition that she find someone to take her place. Inanna is either reincarnated into a new body or is resurrected to life, ascends from the underworld, and finds that her consort, Tammuz, had taken over her throne. She sends Tammuz to the underworld in her place.
Critics claim that Inanna was crucified, though no cross or tree was involved, and, besides, she was already dead when placed upon the meathook or nail.
Critics claim that Inanna was resurrected, which is true in some pre-Christian versions of the story, so this is a valid similarity. However, since the death and resurrection took place in the underworld, and not in ours, the similarity lacks much in the way of comparisons to Jesus.
Critics claim that Inanna was a savior. She was not.

Aren’t there some striking parallels between the Jesus and Krishna stories?
It should be noted that a few of these claims originate with Louis Jacolliot (1837-1890), a Frenchman who lived in India. His claims have not been supported with any external evidence. If he is to be believed, we are taking only his word for it. No actual Buddhists in India appear to have ever professed the beliefs Jacolliot claimed. And even if, hypothetically, there were 19th century Buddhists who believe the things he claimed, it's likely their beliefs were influenced by Christianity, since there is no record of these beliefs pre-dating Christianity.
I've heard from a couple of followers of the Hindu religion (one named Manali, the other who will remain unnamed) who have provided much-appreciated feedback.
1. Born of a Virgin on December 25
Since, according to legend, Krishna had seven older siblings, it's unlikely his mother, Devaki, was a virgin (and there's no tradition saying she was). According to krishna.avatara.org, Krishna was born on the "8th day of the dark half of the month of Sravana. This corresponds to July 19th 3228 BC." I've seen other sites say he was born in August. Skeptic Acharya S makes the claim that Krishna was born of a virgin in the book "The Christ Conspiracy", but her footnotes for this merely say that "The orthodox legend of Krishna is that he was born of a married woman, Devaki; but like Maya, Buddha's mother, she was considered to have had a miraculous conception." How does having a miraculous conception equate to her being a virgin?
Manali says "The reason this gets mentioned as a point of similarity, I guess, is not to point that mothers in both cases were a virgin. And its not said anywhere that Devaki the mother of Krishna was a virgin. I think the point of similarity is that like Jesus, Krishna was not Devaki's child, but son of god, whom she conceived miraculously."
I agree that their both being conceived miraculously is a point of similarity, but the Christ-myther claim of Krishna being "born of a virgin on December 25" is still not true on either point.
2. His human father was a carpenter
No, his human father (his only father, for that matter) was a man named Vasuveda. I have found no sources suggesting that he was a carpenter. I even did internet searches on the combination of "Vasuveda" and "Carpenter" in Google, Yahoo and Infoseek, and got no hits except for articles written about Krishna by people whose last names were 'Carpenter'. In fact, he was most likely a dairy farmer. In some versions of the Krishna story, his father is King Kansa (who is also not a carpenter), who is also Devaki's brother. Some web sites state that Kansa is Devaki's cousin or uncle, but followers assure me Kansa is Devaki's brother.
3. Father was off paying taxes when Krishna was born
No, his father, Vasuveda, was in prison with his mother when Krishna was born. Or in the versions in which King Kansa is Krishna's father, you wouldn't expect the king to be paying taxes.
4. Birth was signaled by a star in the East
I've found no mention of this in any Krishna story.
5. Birth was attended by angels and shepherds, was presented with spices
I found this site, written by a follower of Krishna, which gives the story of the birth of Krishna, and even makes some general comparisons between Krishna and Jesus (that they were both born of a woman, born in this world and were 'God-on-Earth'), yet it mentions nothing about angels, shepherds, or spices. I haven't found such comparisons anywhere else, either. Manali points out that Krishna was visited by cowherds after his birth, since his family was in the dairy business.
6. A ruling tyrant ordered the slaughtering of thousands of infants upon hearing of Krishna's birth
While there is a parallel here, it's not the one the critics claim. According to Manali, "after Kansa failed to kill Krishna, and came to know that the baby has been born and is living somewhere, he called upon his army to search the entire city of Mathura and its suburbs, to find and kill all the infants born in the same period as Krishna. Thus he ended up killing several infants, and there are several stories of how miraculously Krishna as a baby escaped the killings." So it was "several" infants, not thousands. Also, the number of infants killed by Herod when he found out about Jesus couldn't have been much more than about twenty according to most scholars, so it wasn't "thousands" there, either. So replace "thousands of" with "several" in the claim, and there is a parallel. However, the earliest version of this story in the Krishna tradition probably dates from the 4th to 6th century A.D., well after the Jesus story had been in circulation. Some date the Krishna story as early as 2nd century A.D., but even this is after the Gospel accounts were written.
7. Was anointed with oil on the head by a woman he healed
I can't find any such incident in any version of the Krishna story.
8. Was depicted as having his foot on the head of a snake
Again, this cannot be found in any version of the story.
9. Worked miracles: raised the dead, healed lepers, healed the deaf, healed the blind
He worked miracles, but I have yet to find any references to his raising the dead, or healing lepers, the deaf or the blind. Acharya S has no footnotes for this claim, so apparently she can't find the references, either.
10. Taught in parables
One of the Hindu followers who responded says he knows the Krishna story very well, and he says that Krishna did not use parables.
11. Krishna lived poor and loved the poor
The two Hindu followers who responded to this page disagree slightly on this. The first one said that "Krishna never lived as a poor person. The Yadav Caste (of which Krishna was a member) are dairy farmers, and, since milk is an important commodity, they have always been quite wealthy by Indian standards". The second responder, Manali, says that "Krishna did live poor during parts of his childhood, when he was under the care of foster parents. When Kansa's reign ended and he was welcomed back into the royal family, he never lived poor again."
But when we say that Jesus "lived poor", we're talking about his entire life, childhood and adulthood, so this isn't a comparison. Besides that, many people throughout history have lived poor and loved the poor, it's not hard to believe that Krishna and/or Jesus may have been among them.
12. Castigated the clergy and charged them with hypocrisy and ambition.
Again, not found in any version.
13. Was transfigured in front of his disciples
Again, not found in any version
14. Gave his disciples the ability to work miracles
Ditto.
15. Krishna's path was "strewn with branches"
Ditto.
16. Some traditions held that he was crucified between two thieves
Critics claim this, but never back it up. The only method of demise that I can find is his being shot in the foot by a hunter's arrow, and then either died or disappeared. If anyone out there can give me an example of a tradition in which he is crucified, please let me know. Acharya S's footnote on this one makes claims about other mythological figures being crucified, but makes no mention of Krishna being crucified.
The forementioned Jacolliot does make the claim of Krishna being affixed to a tree with arrows after he was killed, but doesn't mention anything about two thieves, and since Krishna was already dead and no crucifix was involved, this was hardly a crucifixion. And no one has ever been able to back up Jacolliot's claim, anyway, making it likely fraudulent. And even if not fraudulent, this story postdates Christianity by over 1800 years and was thus certainly influenced by Christianity.
17. Was killed around 30 yrs old and the sun darkened at his death
According to tradition, Krishna was 125 when he died. Only off by 95 years! And there's nothing about the sun darkening at his death.
18. Rose from the dead and ascended to heaven
The closest parallel comes in some later versions in which Krishna's body turned into a log-like image which floated around the East coast of India, finally ending up in a temple in the town of Puri. But he neither rose from the dead or ascended to Heaven.
19. Was depicted on a cross with nail-holes in his feet.
Only in post-Christian times.
20. Was called: Shepherd of God, Redeemer, Firstborn, Sin-Bearer, Liberator, and Universal Word
He was called the "Shepherd God", only because, unlike Jesus, he actually WAS a shepherd. Jesus was a shepherd only metaphorically. I cannot find any record of the other names.
21. Was deemed: Our Lord and Savior and Son of God, who came to earth to die for the salvation of man
He was never referred to by these titles.
22. Was the second person of a trinity
Sort of. The first Hindu follower who responded to this site states, "That Krishna is an avtar of Vishnu would make him the second god of the Hindu threesome". However, he also acknowledges that the form of the threesome has changed over the years, and besides that, "The Hindu threesome cannot be equated even remotely with the Christian trinity." The Hindu trinity is three separate beings, not the three-in-one of the Christian trinity.
23. Was called: Jezeus/Jeseus by his disciples
The source for this appears to be the forementioned Jacolliot, and thus postdates Christianity. Besides that, remember that Jesus' Hebrew name was Yeshua. Jesus is only the English pronunciation. So even if true, this one is essentially meaningless.
24. Krishna will return to judge the dead and will do battle with the "Prince of Evil." The Earth will be desolated.
This is another claim originating with Jacolliot and cannot be dated to earlier than the 19th century. Nor is it backed up by any evidence besides Jacolliot's claim.
Manali pointed me to these two passages in the "Bhagvad Gita":
"whenever there is a fall of sustenance; when it goes down, the righteousness falls off, to kill, to destroy these horrible negative forces: to save and sustain the saints, I come in every age in human form."
"To deliver the pious and to annihilate the miscreants, as well as to reestablish the principles of religion, I Myself appear, millennium after millennium."
Manali says that Krishna is born into a new body in order to return (reincarnation), so this does not compare to Jesus, who is said to be returning in the same body He had in the 1st century.
